About DEMP

Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications

The Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) is an attached department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, working to preserve Pakistan’s narrative through media, publications, and digital monitoring.

  • Legacy & Structure: Originally part of the pre-independence Publication Division, DEMP became the Directorate of Electronic Media & Publications in 2012 after merging the Department of Advertising, Films & Publications with the Electronic Media Relation Wing.

  • Key Functions: Publishes and archives government publications and historic documentaries, including rare material on the Pakistan Movement.

  • Modern Capabilities: Operates a state-of-the-art news analysis center, monitoring over 70 local and international TV channels for real-time media insights.

  • Production of Films/ Documentaries/ Songs (Depicting the history and culture of Pakistan)
  • Projection of soft image of Pakistan through publications (Books/Magazines/Brochures/ Coffee Tables)
  • Monitoring of Electronic Media and Analysis of News trends
  • Verification of Public sector advertisements and awareness campaigns
  • Implementation of Pakistan Films and Broadcast Policy

  • Seminars and Exhibitions on Special Occasions

  • Patronage of literary circles (Halqa-e-Ahbab)

  • Custodian of National Anthem
